It Takes a Village

There are few animals more universally beloved than turtles. Revered in civilizations the world over throughout history, they are one of nature’s most amazing creations—and one of her most durable, until we came along.

Whether this symbol of longevity will have a future as long as its past is now very much in question. Human activity threatens turtles everywhere, every day. And for an animal that takes 50 years just to replace itself, losses just aren’t sustainable.

We believe that the work we do is important for so many reasons. But we can’t do it without you. Wildlife Rehabilitation is a voluntary endeavor. We receive no financial support from the state. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, The Turtle’s Back is entirely self-funded. And we can’t do it alone. Every penny of your tax-deductible donation will go directly toward helping us help turtles—for both the short and long term. (And when we say you’ll be helping to keep the lights on, we really mean it! Every turtle requires at least one light, not to mention heat, filtration, food, housing, and medical supplies—sometimes for one to two years.)

In Native American mythology, Turtle carried the world upon his back. Join us in our efforts to insure that this iconic creature isn’t crushed by the weight of today’s world. With your help, we can put our backs into it!

Thank you!
